The competencies of Becri's human resources, with around 620 employees, are the cornerstone of its sustained growth, whose know-how has been contributing to consolidate the company's position in the market throughout the years. Consistently involved in ongoing training, our people possess all the necessary knowledge to fulfil our clients' requirements.
The company's strategy is led by Innovation and ongoing investment in new equipment and the most recent technology to meet the needs and requirements of the services we provide. Ongoing investment, as new facilities with increased production capacities, allows to optimize profitability enhancing the quality of our products, thus fulfilling the company's main goal of providing a quality service, always in compliance with the determined times and prices.
With a reinforced I&D department that includes a design atelier, we are able to provide solutions that meet all our client’s needs, as collection development and pattern maker services. We are also able to execute proto/mockups in the same day. All with the flexibility to provide short execution and delivery times.
Also in 2021, the implementation of the Quality Management System at Gubec begins, with the certification audit scheduled for January 2022. With the growth of BecriGroup, there was a need to increase the number of employees in some sectors, namely in the Administrative and Financial, Industrial, Commercial, Human Resources, Continuous Improvement, among others. In order to keep up with the technological evolution and move towards industry 4.0, BecriGroup has invested considerably in the modernization of software and hardware. A 3D modeling software (replacement of physical prototypes for digital) was acquired for the design & development department and another software for the cutting sector where the entire process will become digital.
Following the strategy defined by the Administration for the companies of the group, the implementation of the Quality Management System at Guay begins, with the certification audit being scheduled in January 2021. During 2020, Gubec undergoes remodeling in some productive sectors, as planned. On March 1, 2021, the group acquires a new industrial unit in Guimarães with around 95 employees. This unit will be part of Titulos&Rubricas and its activity is tailor-made garments and packaging. On March 9, 2021, Guay obtains the Certificate of Conformity for its Management System in accordance with NP EN ISO 9001:2015, for the activities of: Design, Development and production of clothing.
On February 6, 2020, Becri obtains the Certificate of Conformity of its Management System in accordance with NP EN ISO 9001:2015, for the activities of: Design, Development and production of clothing.
The objective of the Becri Group is to extend the scope of the SGQ to the other companies in the group:
- GUAY–Trading International S.A.,
- GUBEC–I&D In TEXTILES, LDA.
- TÍTULOS&RUBRICAS Unipessoal, LDA.
On April 1, 2020, the group acquires the building adjacent to Guay, with 14 employees, located in the industrial park of Alvelos, with the aim of increasing the area and production capacity of Guay. In the short term, the company will undergo restructuring works. In June 2020, the group acquires a new unit with about 20 employees, located in Ponte de Lima, in the parish of Facha, and its activity is tailor-made garments. This unit will be part of the existing Títulos & Rubricas. With this acquisition, the group registers an increase in daily production capacity. In November 2020, the acquisition of a pavilion, adjacent to Becri, is finally completed, which will respond to the department's needs of logistics and where the laundry will be installed. With this restructuring, the packaging sector will have room to increase its production capacity.
During 2019, Títulos & Rubricas underwent extensive refurbishment works, in order to provide better working conditions for all its employees. With the installations already completed in 2018, the in-house laboratory activity was subsequently started, with the acquisition of all the necessary resources.
At the end of 2018 and beginning of 2019, GUBEC was mentioned in several media due to the investment that is planned to be made in the company and the creation of another 30 to 50 new jobs. In 2018, Becri's facilities were expanded, with the construction of a new building from scratch, where the cutting sectors, mesh and accessories warehouse, laboratory, showroom and the Design & Development department are located. In the construction of this building, the use of natural light was taken into account, with the placement of skylights and solar panels, contributing to the sustainability of the company. In the same year, the renovation of the old facilities and the reorganization of some productive sectors began. Once again, and since 2007, the PME Líder award has been awarded. During 2018 and 2019, Becri was in the news in several media due to its performance and recognition in the textile sector.
In 2018, Gubec was founded. Located in Esposende. It is made up of 4 partners, employs around 70 employees and is responsible for the serial production of outerwear. Its production is destined for the international market. Also during 2018, Gubec underwent renovation works in part of the facilities, with the rest of the facilities being refurbished in the medium term. One of the next steps is the restructuring of the industrial layout, namely the cutting, finishing and export sector and the creation of a social area, with the aim of providing better conditions for workers. Also during this year, new equipment was acquired for the production area.
Títulos & Rubricas, located in Vila Verde, was acquired in 2017. At the time of its acquisition, it had around 60 employees and its activity was tailor-made garments. It was acquired to respond to the specific needs of Becri – Malhas e Confeções SA. It is made up of three directors and employs around 80 employees. Its production activity and manufacturing is exclusive to the companies of the BECRI GROUP.
This year the company's Corporate Identity changes In 2015 Guay Trading International SA is acquired. It was established in 2012 as a textile agency. In 2016 - Installation of Guay in the industrial park of Alvelos, in a total area of 1600 m2. In March 2016, production of Guay begins. The company changes from a textile agency to a company that produces knitted garments. Its production is destined for the international and national market, and the national market is tailor-made for the parent company.
During this period, the company sees a significant increase in employees (commercials, quality controllers and modelers) and customers. With the implementation of standardized work methods throughout the entire production process, a very significant reduction in production time is achieved, thus, increasing lead times. In 2013, the company started working directly with some customers, which until now was done through agents. For the same weekly order quantities, we went from 20/30 models to 70/80 models. The company becomes a reference in the textile sector at a national and international level, which is reflected in its customer base.
For the first time, Becri is awarded the status of PME Líder by IAPMEI (Institute of Support for Small and Medium Enterprises), within the scope of the Fincresce Program. The company's facilities are expanded and remodeled, now occupying an area close to 3000m2. The productive equipment, the computer network and the cutting area are updated and modernized. The raw material warehouse is created and new carts are purchased for the warehouse.
With the investments and restructuring carried out, the company grows and consolidates its activity and presence in the market. The number of employees grows and in 2004 there are already 85. Between 2005 and 2006, despite the crisis in the textile sector, Becri conquers renowned brands and prepares the future, defining clear business objectives.
The 1996 administration undergoes a remodeling and now consists of four managing partners. The productive area is once again increased to a total area of around 1800m2. The equipment park is renewed and new technologies are introduced in production. In order to provide the best working conditions for its employees, a refrigeration system is installed in the production area, a dressing room, a medical office and a cafeteria are built.
There was a consolidated growth during this year, when it asserted itself in the domestic and foreign markets. As a result of the company's growth, the need to move to larger facilities arises. In this sense, the company is moved to a pavilion, located in Alvelos, with about 800m2.
BECRI is no longer working only in tailor-made products. In the same year, direct sales to the domestic and foreign markets began. United Kingdom being the first customer in the foreign market. This year sees a significant growth and the number of employees doubles.
This year is marked by the division and assignment of quotas, with BECRI having only two managing partners.
Becri begins its activity in 1983, constituted by five partners and a group of fifteen employees. All production is destined for the national market, with clothing made in knitted fabrics.
